Love Bug Valentine’s Day Craft for kids!
Valentines’s Day is fast approaching! I am reposting a cute craft project that I did with my daughter, Catherine, a few years ago. Wishing you and YOUR love bugs a sweet day.
Catherine and I made these adorable love bugs! At first I wasn’t sure if my soon to be four-year-old would have enough experience to assemble it. However, I’ve always been a firm believer that children can do more than you think they can – so we gave it a try. With the exception of making the holes in the tubes (for safety reasons) she did the rest entirely on her own. I think she’s been bitten by the craft bug!
Here’s what you’ll need to make these cuties:
- empty toilet paper roll or a paper towel roll cut in half
- paint or construction paper to cover the rolls
- all purpose glue
- glitter glue
- pipe cleaners
- beads
- googly eyes
- mini pom pom balls for the nose
- a black Sharpie (for the mouth)
- embellishments, such as washi tape, or self adhesive gems, etc.
Paint or glue construction paper on the rolls
With a skewer or screw driver, an adult will need to poke three holes in the roll going all the way through, these are the holes that the pipe cleaner “legs” will go through
Insert pipe cleaners through the holes and glue beads on the ends for the feet
Cut two hearts for wings and two antennae and glue them on the back of the Love Bug and then glue on the eyes, nose, and decorate whatever way you wish! You can add glitter glue to the heart shaped wings
