If there is anything that I am least likely to wear, it’s plaid. I made an exception for this tunic because it combines two of my favorite colors, blue and pink. I like plaid, but it is a tricky one to get right because of the dreaded pajama factor. Whenever I see a plaid shirt I become overly nervous about the color and pattern. I’d be so horrified if it was ever confused with a pajama top! My motto is “When in doubt, leave it out” which means that almost all the time I leave it on the rack.
One Tunic Two Ways
Still, I’m determined to overcome this serious fashion dilemma and decided to tackle it with a versatile tunic. This 100% cotton tunic from the Velvet line by Graham and Spencer, is lined which gives it nice weight and a little structure. The simple mandarin collar gives it a casual vibe and I can play with different necklaces by opening or closing the buttons. The sleeves are fitted, but I love that I can also roll them up to reveal the navy blue lining. It can be worn with or without a belt depending on your mood. I styled it two ways, but I could easily see me wearing it over leggings, with a cardigan, or suede booties.
I’ve linked up some similar ones under SHOP SARAH’S PICKS on the right.
Style One – The pattern has a pinky-peach stripe and to play that up, I paired it with neutral Steve Madden heel and a Franco Sarto saddle bag in a few photos and a Michael Kors travel bag in others. A simple tassel necklace wrapped once complements the tassel on the bag and brings out the pink stripe!
Style Two – Definitely more fun and playful. I went all navy by donning a pair of blue Hunters and a dark blue Dooney and Bourke cross body bag.
