One of my favorite ways to kick off the holiday season is to visit a tree farm and cut down our Christmas Tree. If this sounds appealing to you, at the end of this post is a list of Tree Farms in Connecticut. Traditionally, we get our tree on the Sunday after Thanksgiving and decorate it that same night. There’s something so magical about stringing the lights, rediscovering ornaments that your kiddos made and adding a new ornament from where you vacationed that summer. We light a fire, play Christmas music and sip hot chocolate. It’s one of those time-honored evenings with my family that I really cherish.
Tree Farms in Connecticut
If this sounds like Heaven to you, I have included a list of Christmas Tree Farms in Connecticut. If you live in Connecticut, or are planning a trip here, I’ve listed the Tree Farms by county. Just scroll down past the map and find the county closest to you. To help you narrow down your options, I have created a direct link to the Tree Farms in CT so you can read more about them and plan your visit.
As a general rule of thumb, Christmas Tree Farms open on Thanksgiving weekend and have hours of operation every weekend until Christmas. Tree farms have pre-cut trees in addition to being able to scout around and cut your own! If you plan to cut your own tree, it’s best to wear boots while hiking around and gloves to protect your hands.
You will also want to protect the paint on the roof of your car from getting scratched when transporting your tree home. We recently got a Tree Transporter that made it a breeze to wrap, hoist and mount our Christmas Tree to the top of our vehicle. Since we get a tree every year, this is a smart addition to our Christmas gear. I’ve included some photos of how to use it. Basically, you lay your tree on the Tree Transporter, wrap it around the tree with the built-in straps, and carry it to your car. Place the tree, tarp side down on the roof of your car and use the additional straps that come with the Tree Transporter to secure it. It couldn’t be easier to use and the best part is no more scratches in the car paint. It’s a one-time investment that we’ll have for years and years. Click HERE to purchase.

More Information on the Tree Transporter. The Tree Transporter can be purchased through their website at www.treetransporter.com for a retail price of $39.99
What is Tree Transporter?
Tree Transporter is a convenient soft-sided frameless auto roof-top carrier, designed to conveniently secure and carry cut evergreen trees or similarly sized and shaped cargo, providing protection to both vehicle and the cargo. This reusable carrier allows the user to easily attach to, and condense a tree, thereby creating a non-slip surface against the roof of the vehicle while catching sap drippings and debris.
How big is it?
More like how small. You can easily shove this in your back pocket or purse just like you would a reusable bag.
How do I use it?
Simply unroll Tree Transporter then place, buckle and tighten. Then you are on your way.
What type of tree can I use it on?
Tree Transporter can be used with typical holiday evergreen bailed or loose trees.
Will this save me time?
Absolutely! The Tree Transporter is typically installed in 30-60 seconds.
How fast can I drive with this on my car?
To put it simply, you won’t need your hazard lights on. The Tree Transporter is designed in the U.S.A. of durable fabrics including a non-slip bottom. When properly installed the Tree Transporter can travel at posted speeds. It goes without saying, drive safely and please use common sense while the device is in operation.
