The Completely Sublime Sagamore Resort – Highlights and photos from CT in Style, a Connecticut-based lifestyle blog.
What a whirlwind week! We returned home on Monday evening from a spectacular stay at the Sagamore Resort in the Lake George area of New York; just in time to unpack, do some laundry and replenish our refrigerator before school started on Wednesday. Re-entry was mixed in with a beach-destination book club on Tuesday night and a dinner celebration at my best friend’s home last night. I had to look at the calendar twice today as I am in a bit of disbelief that it’s Thursday. It has been a wonderful blur of quality time with my family and great friends. I’m still floating on cloud nine (and not ready to come down) from our mini-vacation. I wanted to share with you some photos and highlights of the Sagamore Resort and our favorite restaurants in the area.
This is our third consecutive summer vacation in Lake George, NY. It is one of those places that has the ability to transport you to another era with its pristine green mountains and sparkling blue water that surrounds a quaint town that hasn’t changed much over the years. I found myself taking the same photos day after day because I thought that I needed to quickly capture “a breathtaking view” before it went away. But it doesn’t go away, and that’s part of the magic. You can immerse yourself in the moment for hours.

I can’t say enough about the Sagamore Resort and the staff. Part of the OPAL Collection Property chain, the efficient and courteous staff has been coached to respond to guests with “It’s my pleasure” and they are fabulously attentive. The resort is phenomenal and filled with so many great amenities from water sports and boat rentals to swimming and tennis to a state-of-the-art rec center. By far, our favorite place to hang out was at the swimming pool. The main hotel is built on a hill to take advantage of the views and at the base of the hotel is a multi-level terrace that leads to an infinity pool. The staff comes by every 30 minutes or so to refresh your drink and take lunch orders (the Rum Punch and Mojito are out of this world). Click here for much more information about the Sagamore Resort. If you have any interest in staying there, book early!

Restaurant Recommendations
If you follow my blog, you know that I love food. I’m a fan of TripAdvisor because I think that the reviews are reliable, and it was through TripAdvisor that we found Bistro LeRoux. Bistro LeRoux is one of the best restaurants that I have ever eaten at and we make it a point to have dinner there every time we are in the area. The interior and exterior of Le LeRoux are misleading, it looks like a sweet and homey little restaurant, but the food kicks ass. Chef owned and operated, Jacob Guay has designed a unique menu and I can tell that he likes to experiment with flavor profiles. Click here for their menu, though it may change seasonally. Reservations are strongly recommended.

For breakfast, we love Bolton Beans. It is a charming restaurant that is housed in an old train car with a small kitchen and patio built on. I didn’t take a photo of it, but the Hangover Helper is a great way to start your day (whether you need help or not!) it is a grilled tortilla filled with eggs, your choice of breakfast meat, black beans, cheese and sides of salsa and sour cream. Click here for Bolton Beans facebook page.

Martha’s is a now famous Dandee Ice Cream stop on the main drag in Lake George. The flavors change daily, but my favorite is the vanilla and orange swirl – it tastes just like a creamsicle. The serving size of the ice cream cone is part of the wide appeal, come hungry!
