I’ve never been one to wear a lot of makeup unless it was for a special occasion. As a matter of fact, before I started blogging, most days I was 100% makeup free. Kerry prefers a more natural look (thank God) and I could get away with just a swipe of lipstick and sunglasses. After I started blogging, and started following other bloggers, I noticed how flawless their skin is.
While I am much more comfortable behind the camera, I know that my readers want to be able to connect with me on a personal level. What that means is that I have to work up the courage to be in front of the camera more. It’s really hard putting myself out there, but I am building a brand and my research has shown that posts with the blogger’s image do a lot better. It doesn’t matter what you look like, readers just want to see you.
Even though I understand how important making that visual connection is, I still needed a boost of self-confidence to look my best in photos. I stumbled across makeup that truly transformed my complexion and I’m sharing the before and after photos.
The Makeup That Transformed My Complexion
I walked into Nordstrom’s one day last spring determined to unlock the secret to achieving a better complexion. At the beauty counter, I explained to the woman that I was looking for a tinted moisturizer to even out my skin tone. She knew exactly what I needed and brought out samples of Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream.
She matched samples to a few parts of my face and neck and settled on Buttercream. She applied it to my face and handed me a mirror – and I was stunned. She barely put any on but it covered so well and completely evened out my skin tone. It took redness away, hid sunspots and added radiance. On mornings when I haven’t slept well the night before, this gel does wonders for dark circles. It’s a pretty miraculous two-in-one product, it covers and hydrates my skin at the same time!
I should mention that I left with two tubes (Buttercream and Natural) and an application brush. I bought two colors because I wanted one for my summer color and one for my winter color. Despite slathering myself with 50 SPF and wearing a hat, I can’t seem to avoid getting a little tan during the summer. The good news is that they are 30 SPF so I don’t need additional sunscreen.
You can shop for Complexion Rescue by clicking the link at the end, although I would go in for a personal consultation so your skin tone can be matched. It’s also available at most quality beauty supply locations like Sephora and Ulta Beauty for about $30.00.
