The Importance of Girl Time
By the time most of you read this, I will be 30,000 feet above sea level. I’m headed to Miami this morning with three incredibly wonderful girl friends to celebrate a birthday. The birthday girl wanted a destination to celebrate her big day, and while we would have followed her anywhere, Miami made it a no brainer. The last time I spent any real time in Miami was when my older sister, attend the University of Miami. I remember walking the campus at age 16, and envisioning college life for me. She took me to her classes, introduced me to her friends and we hung out in her dorm room. It was the first time that my sister and I were together, alone and not at home. It was such a great bonding experience because I was old enough to connect with her at a mature level and have conversations about things that only sisters talk about.

I am so happy to be headed back to Miami, this time with girlfriends. We are staying at the Miami Edition and it looks amazing! All of us are wives and moms and we are so looking forward to spending a long weekend with zero demands. The hardest decision I want to make is if I should drink red or white wine at dinner. It is safe to say that me and my traveling companions are all on the same sloth-like page. We’ve all resisted planning anything other than dinner reservations at some spectacular restaurants. There are literally only four things on the agenda: sleeping, eating, lounging by the pool or on the beach and talking. The importance of girl time cannot be underestimated. I haven’t even arrived and I know that we’ll be talking about everything from the Presidential Election to Orlando Bloom’s naked board paddling.
