I recently inherited a pair of Tiffany earrings from my mother. She knew that I was coveting them and surprised me with them as a gift on my last birthday. They had been given to my mother by my father after I was born, the last of her three children. The earrings have four gold balls in graduating sizes, one to represent her and the other three to represent each of her children. It joins two other pieces of gold jewelry that I absolutely love, my father’s pinky ring that is so worn that you can barely make out the engraving. And a gold locket that holds photos of my beautiful children. I cherish these pieces for so many reasons and it reminds me how sentimental I can be.
I’m a romantic at heart and over the years I realized that not everyone shares the same characteristic, and I’ve gotten some teasing from friends if I insist on taking a group photo to capture a memory, or for saving every scrap of paper that my children have brought home from school. The teasing has made me more private and I’m a bit cautious with who I share things with. But I can spot a fellow romantic, they are the ones who ask me what I keep in my locket. For them, I open myself up completely and show them the photos of my babes, Jackson and Catherine and tell them that I wear the locket next to my heart to keep them close. That statement is typically followed by “I need to get one of those!”
If you love the allure of the locket, I will share my recent product crush with you – the Monica Rich Kosann locket collection.
