My entire family and I spent our free time last weekend getting the house ready for summer. We started by power washing our home then we swept cobwebs, cleaned windows, scrubbed away mildew, pulled weeds, edged and mulched garden beds, and cleaned the deck. It was exhausting, but it felt so great to get it done and now we have nothing left to do but enjoy the outdoor space!
In the summer, we spend most of our time in the backyard because we have a large deck that runs almost the entire length of the house. There’s also room for a regulation size badminton “grass” court or KanJam in the grass area directly below. Today, I want to share just a few photos of how the deck looks with our new RH outdoor furniture.
We recently swapped out our old Restoration Hardware furniture for a newer, slimline version. The deck is large enough to have two separate areas, one for sitting and one for dining. For the sitting area, I chose matching sofas with a small round table that I can put drinks and appetizers on. There were so many great fabric choices, but in the end, I went with neutral colored seat cushions. I’m known for wanting to makeover almost every room in our home, almost every year (it drives my husband nuts) and going with a neutral color gives me the option of switching out throw pillows for something completely different. This season, the color palette is mostly yellow and white. I wanted a very summery look that is easy on the eyes, but still cheery and bright!
