Last weekend, I had the pleasure of touring the “Rooms With a View” Interior Designer Showhouse in Southport, Connecticut. Now in its 21st year, the theme for 2015 was “Home for the Holidays.” Unlike a home or a room in a home that is designed based on input from a client, Rooms With a View allows each designer carte blanc to imagine what a 6×8′ space should look like when someone is coming home for the holidays – and bring it to life! I attended the showhouse last year and it was so great, and I’m not quite sure how they did it, but this year was even better. Each room was so beautiful and so very different from each other and I left feeling that I got a strong sense of each of the designers’ personalities. The rooms’ themes ranged from July 4th to Thanksgiving to Christmas to New Year’s Eve – it was up to each designer to choose which holiday to come home to.

If you are not familiar with Rooms With a View, this snippet from the website perfectly describes the event: Rooms With a View (RWAV) is the premier design event in Fairfield County created by the Dean Of American Design, Mr. Albert Hadley and now with Honorary Chairman, Thom Filicia. Each year, 12 designers are invited to create 6’ x 8′ vignettes. These mini-rooms (8-foot ceilings and three walls) are staged in the library and great hall of the historic, stone, Gothic Revival style Southport Congregational Church in Southport, CT. RWAV is unique in that it is not a showcase in the traditional sense. It is a sound bite version of a designer show house. The designers are challenged to get an idea across in a small amount of space. The showhouse benefits the Church and attracts hundreds of people every year. RWAV is open to the public on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. In addition to their wonderful designers, they have “The Shops” at RWAV with more than 30 vendors from around the country who are selling their crafts, antiques and decorative accessories. A Marketplace Café, as well as other exciting events, are planned to fill out the weekend.
I’ve taken a ton of photos so you can get a true appreciation for the talent of these designers. If you didn’t get a chance to go, consider this your virtual tour! For much more information about this annual event, click here. It lists all the designers that have participated over the years, and a list of the 2015 vendors. I’m already looking forward to next year!
For today’s post, I am going to share images from the Lattice House, which was one of the boutiques and one of the rooms designed by interior designer, Lisa Ehrlich. Come back tomorrow, or better yet, subscribe to my blog and I will come to you so you can see the rest of the rooms on this virtual tour.
First stop was Room 6, The Lattice House. It was filled with a charming mix of antique and modern items for the home, curated by Christopher Philip, who is also responsible for organizing the event on behalf of the Church.
Next on the tour is Lisa Ehrlich’s space. Fun Sophistication! Navy blue and pink are one of my most favorite color combos, she totally nailed this room. It is bright and bold and her ability to mix patterns. Crazy good.
See you tomorrow for more gorgeous rooms…
