Primark Danbury Fair MallYou’re welcome. Okay, okay, I’m being a little presumptuous but I’m pretty sure you’ll be thanking me soon. If you have not heard about PRIMARK, grab a cup of coffee and read on. What’s Primark you ask? With its origins in Europe, Primark is the ultimate fashion destination for value-conscious shoppers. They opened its first store in Dublin in 1969 (under the name Penneys) and today they operate in over 270 stores in nine European countries. The first U.S. store premiered in Boston in 2015 and they recently opened their third U.S. location at the Danbury Fair Mall in Danbury, CT. Yes Connecticut readers, we just hit the jackpot.
Here’s the story. I was invited to their pre-opening celebration before they opened the doors to the public (sweet). Before I arrived, I assumed that it was going to be a traditional-size store with women’s clothes and some home decor. I could not have been more surprised when I entered the 53,000 square foot megastore. I stood at the entrance and literally didn’t know where to begin. The selection is enormous, not only in quantity, but in style as well. Are you a classic? A hipster? Somewhere inbetween? No worries, Primark has on-trend pieces in every style category from preppy to boho. And bring your family. It’s hardly just for women. They carry the most adorable baby clothes all the way up to big boy/girl sizes. And the clothing line for men is really impressive. They have your man well taken care of with casual attire to business shirts, jackets and pants. It’s Primark’s way of keeping the guys looking dapper.
My dollar stretched so far, that I will be blogging about several of the outfits that I got. I wanted to start with summer style and a cute beach outfit. I fell in love with the straw bag with the pom poms and it was easy to build from there. Primark believes in physically grouping clothes that pair well together, so if you are not sure about what top to put with a pair pants, or which shoes go best with a romper just look around you and you will find the perfect match. For example, the entire ensemble that I am blogging about today, was within a few feet of each other within the store. It made it so easy to shop and I knew that my look would be cohesive. If that isn’t enough to put a smile on my face, the price did. The complete outfit: bikini ($9.00), the crochet cover-up ($17.00), the straw bag ($14.00) and the flip flops ($0.90) was a total of $40.90!
Let’s talk about quality. The straw bag is lined. The bathing suit fabric is thick and I’m not concerned that it will be see-through. The crochet cover-up feels really durable and I have a feeling it will hold up wash after wash. But my biggest surprise? The flip flops. As soon as I tried on the flip flops, I had a “whoa” moment. They are soft and cushiony and I only wish I bought a pair in every color! While I was in the flip-flop section, someone mentioned that a bride-to-be bought up an entire rack for her wedding party! As for me, I like stashing a pair of flip flops in my car for pedis so I can still run errands while my toes dry. The flip flops are only ninety cents. Want to thank me now?
