I hope you had an absolutely wonderful 4th of July weekend! This holiday seemed like it went on forever (always a good thing) starting on Sunday with a beach party and sunset cocktails to watch the fireworks over the Long Island Sound. Despite how packed the beach was, we found a great spot near the water and directly in front of the barge that they set the fireworks from. After swimming and dinner, the kiddos dug trenches in the sand and lined them with towels to make their own built-in front row seats. When the sun set, all we could see were their glow-in-the-dark bracelets – so cute!
On Tuesday, the actual holiday, we had the classic American experience. Our 4th consisted of baseball, burgers, badminton and driveway fireworks. It was so much fun and lovely to spend it with friends. In preparation for our July 4th entertaining, I decked out a small corner of our patio. It’s just a small little area, but an ideal place to escape for some catch-up time with friends.
Instead of the traditional Red, White and Blue decorations, I went with PINK, White and Blue. Even though I don’t have hydrangea, I know people who do. I was able to get an armful. Literally. I put them in a blue and white stripe entertaining bucket that I got at Home Goods and they looked so pretty. A couple Adirondack chairs and matching pink goblets from Fishs Eddy in the city tied it all together.
I also made, for the first time, Watermelon Margaritas. Totally yummy! I will share the photos and recipe tomorrow. In the meantime, enjoy my pretty patio inspiration!
