Can you keep a secret? I’ve got the recipe for Bartaco’s 8th Secret Taco – The Braised Short Rib Taco – and I am going to share it with you! Here’s the lowdown on #bartacosecret taco: it’s an ancho chile & coffee braised short rib, served on a soft corn tortilla and topped with pickled fennel. It’s totally delicious. I’ve got step-by-step photos on how to prepare this mouth-watering taco, and I’m also including photos of my visit to Bartaco, Westport, CT so you can see how the pros do it. If you are planning a visit, you won’t see this on the menu. You have to ask for the secret taco!
Blogging has its perks. On their invitation, I headed to downtown Bartaco Westport and brought a bestie who loves food as much as I do. Together, we sampled cocktails, sides, tacos and dessert and stayed waaaay too long. It was one of those really long, relaxing lunches that made us feel like we were on vacation.
In addition to the incredible food (the photos speak for themselves) the atmosphere has a great vibe. The staff is chill, but attentive. One of the thoughtful things that they do at bartaco is leave a large plastic card on every table. When you need anything, you simply place the card on top of your table number stand and your server comes over as soon as he or she sees it. Personally, I much prefer this approach versus being interrupted while I am eating or in the middle of a conversation.
Bartaco has a great selection of tacos, sides, rice bowls and desserts. The bar is well stocked with beach-inspired cocktails and Tequila Flights. A Tequila Flight is three shots of different tequila served with house-made sangria. To check our their entire menu, click here. When you go, ask for Marianna or Phil and tell them I sent you. Bon appetite!
