Papaya and Lime Snack

Papaya and Lime Snack

Papaya and Lime Snack

CT in Style, a Connecticut-based lifestyle blog serving up Papaya and fresh lime juice!

Papaya and Lime Snack

Growing up on a tropical island was sublime. Fruits like mangoes, bananas and pawpaws (papaya) were an everyday staple and we even had a small orchard that we would harvest fruits from. Whenever I see fresh papaya is takes me back to Jamaica. My favorite way to eat papaya is to sprinkle it with fresh lime juice. The acid of the lime juice really elevates the papaya and enhances this mild tasting fruit into something that reminds me of breakfast on the islands. At around 55 calories per serving, papaya is very low in saturated fat, cholesterol and sodium. It is also a good source of fiber and an excellent source of vitamins A, C and folate.

For more information about this superfood, click here to take you to a great article that includes some interesting questions and comments about this amazing fruit. I had no idea that there are so many health benefits! What also caught my eye about this article are the benefits to your skin. Here is a quick excerpt from the article “The enzyme papain in the flesh and skin of papaya fruit actually breaks down dead skin cells and helps promote skin renewal when used topically on the face or body.” I’m totally going to make a facial mask.
