First of all, HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope that you had an awesome New Year’s Eve and a relaxing New Year’s Day. I’m one of many that said “good riddance” to 2017. It felt really great to watch that ball drop in Times Square didn’t it? Cheers to a new year with new beginnings. I hope that you are excited for 2018 and I wish you happiness, health and wealth!
I realize that I’m a day late and a dollar short in posting my New Year’s Eve outfit. I honestly had no idea what I was going to wear until the last minute. It’s a dilemma moms like me face every day. We want to look chic, but have zero time to plan what to wear. When we entertain, my focus is always on the menu and the house. I want to make sure that there’s a lot of great food and drink, and that our home is clean, tidy and styled for entertaining.
My appearance always comes last (such bad hostess code) and I get frustrated with myself for not doing a better job managing my time. If we are hosting a regular dinner party, I don’t worry too much about my outfit because I know I can piece together something. But when it’s a special occasion, like NYE, I do want to put some time into planning what to wear. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen – but I was able to pull together something I call “mommy chic.”

After I showered and did my hair and makeup, I did a quick inventory of my closet. The only thing that I had that was sparkly for NYE was a top that I bought at H&M last year. Even though the top is simple, it’s covered in pretty gold, rose gold and silver sequins. I stared at it and tried to remember if I wore it exactly a year ago at the last party. I figured that if I couldn’t remember, no one would. I crossed my fingers and threw it on.
I was debating on whether or not to wear a skirt, then I remembered a pair of really chic High-Low Flared Pants that I had bought for a ridiculously low price at Forever 21. I pulled those on (they don’t have a zipper, so they are more like leggings) and stepped into a pair of Manolo mules with a gem-encrusted buckle. It was festive and stylish and because it was so comfy, it was the perfect outfit for entertaining. These pants are super slimming too!
The pants are on sale for $28.00! Click HERE to shop the look. If you’re not in love with these pants, just Google search “High-Low Flare Pants” and you’ll get more options. Alice + Olivia has some cute pairs. I wasn’t able to find the same top since it was from last year, but I have linked up some other options HERE and HERE that I like.
I took two sets of photos, the first are with my iPhone:
