Maternity Dress for a Wedding

My friend and fellow Junior Leaguer, Lauren, is expecting a baby this September…so so exciting! She recently turned to me for some inspiration and ideas for a maternity dress to wear to a wedding this summer. Lauren could not have chosen someone more perfect for this job. My friends will tell you that I am obsessed with babies and whenever I see a pregnant woman I have to physically restrain myself from gushing all over her. I don’t go as far as rubbing anyone’s belly, but I can’t help staring at her with what I am sure is a dreamy and lustful look in my eyes. When it comes to maternity clothes, I am 100% on the “flaunt that beautiful belly” side of the fence. One of my favorite parts of the summer is seeing a pregnant woman wearing a bikini at the beach. I love the self confidence and pride of women who want to share their joy with the world (I told you I was obsessed).

Back to Lauren. She and I shop at the same places (J.Crew, Banana, etc.) and I knew immediately that she was looking for classic style. She mentioned that she loves anything with a little sparkle and I honestly couldn’t wait to scout on-line for dress inspo! I loved being pregnant with my two babes and totally wanted to show off my big belly. Maternity clothes that don’t conform to your body are on an uphill battle to be stylish because typically their lines are straight and they can look boring and predictable. Look for dresses that cling to every luscious curve (wrap dresses do an exception job in this area), seek out color, and wear heels!

Best places to find chic maternity dresses: Nordstrom, ASOS Maternity, Isabella Oliver, Tiffany Rose
