Lovely in Lilly

April 25, 2017

Sarah OBrien

I’ve been a fan of Lilly Pulitzer clothes since my days at Penn State University. I remember my first purchase was a mini skirt. Being on a college student’s limited budget, it felt like I paid a fortune, but it was so worth it! I had to own something made by Lilly.

The bright colors and dramatic prints reminded me of Jamaica (my home for 10 years). Growing up in the Caribbean, I was used to being surrounded by color, palm trees and the sand – all the same elements of this iconic style. There is no denying that I had a natural affinity for the brand.

Whenever I wear a “Lilly” I instantly feel more vibrant and happy. How can you not have fun when you have pink cheetahs on your pants! The tropical vibe of her line makes me feel like I am on vacation and puts me in the mood to celebrate and have fun.

Recently, I stopped into Westport, CT’s Lilly store, Splash of Pink, and got an adorable tunic. It serves double duty, because I can wear it as a dress with gold jewelry and gold sandals, or over white pants if I want to be more casual.

For those mamas out there, Lilly also carries children’s clothing. I do not make it a habit of having matching outfits with Catherine, however, for a special occasion or a family photo, I think it’s charming to coordinate what we are wearing. That goes for the guys in our family too. Pink shirts all around.

Lovely in Lilly

Lilly Pulitzer Del Lago Tunic Dress. My favorite features of this dress are the bell sleeves and the little pink tassels on the tie. It’s almost like I don’t need a necklace. A straw bag with matching pink pom poms is the perfect accessory. Shop the look here.
