Kitchen Makeover Reveal – UPDATED! I added more before and after photos that shows better images of the entire kitchen
The kitchen was officially finished on Friday, yahoo! The kitchen makeover involved a different wall color, new window treatments and new fabric for the window seat and throw pillows. All in all, a very doable project that was finished in only 4 weeks! As promised, I want to share some before and after photos with you. Ten years ago, I really liked the pale yellow walls and floral print fabric but it was definitely time for a change.
Now, everything is much brighter and the kitchen looks tailored and chic. I painted the kitchen the same color as the dining room, Benjamin Moore’s Revere Pewter. If you click on the link, you’ll see that it looks like mud, but it actually dries a light grey. The grey blends seamlessly with the stainless steel appliances and makes the kitchen seem bigger. This idea was taken to the fabric treatment too. The fabric used for the kitchen window valances is the same fabric as the drapes in the dining room and has resulted in a cohesive space.
A big thanks to Debby Ball, the owner of Soft Furnishings Design, based in Westport, CT for making everything. Debby was wonderful to collaborate with and delivered exactly what she said she would and did it in record time. One of Debby’s qualities that really impressed me is that she’s the type of person that goes the extra mile. For example, she’ll make suggestions to incorporate additional details into the design that will take more time to complete. She’s far more interested in producing beautiful, custom designed furnishings than making anything ordinary.

Going, going, gone! Goodbye yellow.
Debby unearthed this intricate coral inspired bead trimming and there was just enough for the small pillow.
We used a bead trimming for the edge of the valance, I wanted something small but that would catch the light.
We used four different fabrics for the throw pillows.
