Hi friends! Did you see my Instagram Stories on Sunday? I was invited to the Grand Opening of Kirkland’s in Nanuet, NY – and it was fabulous! I know what you’re thinking. You are thinking that New York must be a haul. But…it only took me 45 minutes to get there from Connecticut – so it’s really not that far. It’s an easy drive (all highway) and who doesn’t love exploring new places?
I’m excited to show you some photos of my favorite pieces from the store!
Kirkland’s Grand Opening + Modern Farmhouse Style
tie-dyed throw I got on sale for $17.00 at Kirkland’s in Nanuet, NY
Inspired and obsessed. That’s how I felt when I walked into the new location. Kirkland’s is filled with an amazing selection of great items that helps you effortlessly tap into your inner “interior designer.” When I arrived, I met with the store manager, Joann, and asked her about what she was seeing brought up to the cash register the most (all the deets below). She also gave me a tour of the store and pointed out the products that people were really flocking to.
As she walked me through the store, she pointed out all the environments they created. They’ve smartly dedicated different areas to things like kitchen (cookware, serving pieces), art/wall decor (painting, photos), textiles (pillows, throws), outdoors (lanterns, doormats) and mirrors. Despite the different areas of the store, the aesthetic is similar. Everything in the store is there to make memories. Whether it is wall art for your child’s nursery, a wooden pedestal bowl filled with cotton orbs for the center of your dining table, or a large clock for your kitchen – the items are carefully curated to say “home.”
Modern farmhouse style items are a big seller at Kirkland’s. I’ve been finding myself drawn to this style as well. Like the rest of the world, I’ve been addicted to HGTV’s mega-hit, Fixer Upper. Joanna Gaines is now a household name because of her simple yet sophisticated style of mixing comfy vintage pieces in clean and modern spaces.
Modern Farmhouse is anything that’s vintage-looking, warm and comfortable. It’s things like vases and table organizers made from galvanized steel and antique pieces that looked aged but are not fragile. Items made from reclaimed wood, natural wooden elements, and exposed ceiling beams are things that you’d typically see in a modern farmhouse. You can expect a lot of texture, but not a lot of clutter in a modern farmhouse home.
Kirkland’s carries a respectable inventory of modern farmhouse pieces that allows you to easily incorporate this popular style in your home. One of the quickest ways to bring modern farmhouse into your space is with word art.
Words painted on wood or other materials, that evoke the importance of home and togetherness are really popular. Look for words like family, gathering, happiness, that you can hang in your dining room or entryway. Another great item for the walls are clocks. Large wall clocks (I am talking 2’x2′ or bigger) are a hot item.
I’ve linked up a few of the pieces that I wanted to come home with me, and the two things that did. Browse through my picks below and if there is anything that you like, take advantage of the SALE! Even though Kirkland’s price point is already such a great value, right now, if you use code: SAVEBIG you can save 30% on one item! The sale is good online or in store (ends on Sunday). | Mason Jar Caddy with Ribbed Tray $19.99 |
Addison Cream Open Face Clock, 45 in. $90.99
Clear Glass Lantern, 10.5 in. $12.00
Navy Ombre Slub Blanket $44.99
If you follow my blog, you know how I feel about ombre. This blanket looks so soft and won’t ever go out of style. It’s pretty big (50×60), which is important if you want something that you can completely circle up in. Think beach blanket! Comes in another gorgeous grey color too.
Natural Braided Seagrass Basket 59.99
I need to stop with the baskets. I have about a five dotted about in our home. I love them for storage for my daughter’s stuffed animals, for throws/blankets on chilly nights and I stuck a Fiddle-Leaf Fig tree in one in our living room.
Distressed Cream Sadie Arch Mirror $ 169.99
This mirror came home with me. I absolutely love it and can’t wait to hang it up.
Still deciding on where this beauty will end up in our home.
This throw was in the store and on sale for a ridiculously low price of $17.00! It matches so nicely with my blue and white pillows and I love the tie-dye boho vibe and tassels.
thank you to Kirkland’s for sponsoring this post, all opinions are my own
