Mmmmwaaaaaaahahahaha! As the mother of a 12-year old boy, I am very familiar with “the grosser the better.” This Halloween, we are working on creating a whole new series of treats – and some of them give me the willies. If you are hosting a Halloween party or attending a party and want to bring something delightfully revolting, this is for you! Today I am going to show you how to make brain cupcakes. They’re like super gross (said with a Cali accent).
You can use any batter flavor you like, I chose Red Velvet with its classic topping, whipped Cream Cheese Frosting tinted with pink food coloring. This cupcake requires piping on the frosting to get the brain effect and it is really easy to do. If you do not have any experience with using a piping bag, this is the perfect first project to experiment with! It only requires two straight lines and four squiggly lines and you can practice on a piece of wax paper and re-use the frosting when you are ready to decorate the cupcakes.
I’ve include links to the recipes at the end and the step-by-step photos of how to make these cupcakes. I’m sure yours will be totally disgusting, in a good way.
