Normally, I will bring a bottle of wine or a beautiful floral arrangement to a friend’s house for dinner, but lately I’ve been gifting my homemade lemon sugar scrub. It is a sweet and unexpected hostess gift and the recipient will love the benefits of the scrub on her skin. Sugar is a natural exfoliator and instantly smooths skin by de-flaking dry skin cells and lemon is a natural astringent that brightens the complexion and can lighten sun spots. I leave my sugar scrub in the shower and use it on any areas that are prone to dryness. If you want to make it at home, it could not be any easier. I use 1 cup of real sugar with the juice of 2 lemons and add about 15-20 drops of pure lemon oil extract. The lemon oil smells heavenly and is such a revitalizing and uplifting fragrance. I find that using all natural ingredients is better on the skin, and when you are the chemist – you can control the amount of lemon extract so it doesn’t smell overwhelming. I combine all the ingredients until well blended and spoon it into an 8oz mason jar. I put a label to the jar and package it in a cellophane bag with a ribbon!
