Our daughter, Catherine, turned three in February. She’s at that age where she is getting very aware of who she is and her place in the family. We are hearing things like “I’m a sister” and “I love my family.” She’s totally the center of our Universe. I’ve been wanting to add a piece of meaningful art to her nursery and when I saw this adorable Handprint idea on Pinterest, I knew it would be ideal. Her nursery color theme is cream, brown and pink so I took one of the pillows from her room and used the fabric as my guide to mix paint colors. I mixed four colors to use for each member of our family starting with the darkest color and going to the lightest color. She may not be able to appreciate it right now, but as she gets older I know she’ll love this moment in time when we captured all our handprints for her birthday. Below are the step by step photos, needless to say the kids loved getting into the paint!
Daddy was brown.
Mommy was next in dark pink.
Big brother Jackson was green.
At this point we have three layers, Daddy, Mommy and Jackson.
Last, but not least it was time for the princess who got light pink (of course).
I helped her by placing her hand on the bottom, so her palm was aligned with ours.
Once we were done, I let it dry overnight.
The final product framed in our daughter’s nursery. I added everyone’s “names” in color coordinating marker and added her birthday.
