Geronimo Fairfield Review
Hi friends! If you are a lover of Southwestern cuisine – this post is for you.
Earlier this summer, I had the privilege of attending a “tasting” experience at Geronimo in Fairfield, CT. I have eaten there numerous times, but this occasion was very special. Geronimo launched a NEW summer food and cocktail menu – and I got to sample all of it!
“I love providing reviews of local restaurants in my area, but southwestern food holds a special place in my heart.”
Even though I now reside in the Northeast, I consider myself a bit of a connoisseur of Southwestern food. I lived in Dallas, Texas for 5 years and my sister lived in Santa Fe, New Mexico for more than 20 years. Between my weekly treks to discover Mexican food in Dallas (I didn’t cook much in my twenties) and my annual visits to see my sister, it’s fair to say that I have eaten my way through many Mexican and New Mexican restaurants between Texas and Santa Fe.
These weren’t the large commercial restaurant chains commonly referred to as “Mexican food.” The places we ate were small cafes located off the beaten track. In my opinion, that’s where one finds truly authentic southwestern cuisine. My memories of these meals all came back to me at Geronimo in Fairfield.
During the tasting, the chef came out to check on our party. We had a chance to talk about his new menu, and his vision for the restaurant. I asked him what he wanted people to know about Geronimo and he said “I want them to know that this isn’t Mexican food. At Geronimo, we serve Southwestern cuisine.” It’s true. Southwestern food is more elevated. This was made very evident by all the tastings we sampled. The dishes were complex and sophisticated and so beautifully plated – wait till you see the photos below!
Geronimo Fairfield Review
I am so happy to be able to provide an enthusiastic review of the Geronimo Fairfield location! Below are photos of my tasting experience. If you plan to visit, my top recommendations are Classic Margarita, table-side made Guacamole (I love this because you can customize the ratio of ingredients, and heat – and it’s fun to watch it being made), the burrata, the steak fajitas, and the churros with warm chocolate for dipping. Bon appetite!
