A little backstory: I was first introduced to Kat Burki during the Connecticut Near + Far Aid Designer House Tour a couple years ago. My friends and I arrived at the pre-tour breakfast and at each table setting was a beautifully designed green and white box that contained a Kat Burki Tuberose (Tubereuse) scented soy candle. I’m very particular about perfume, but this candle had the most amazing light fragrance that I now know is her signature scent (read her story here). Toward the end of the keynote presentation, a tall, gorgeous blonde sat in the chair next to me at our table. However, at her seat there wasn’t a Kat Burki candle and I felt really bad that she was going to leave empty handed. I looked around and noticed that there was a table in the back that wasn’t 100% occupied but still had candles at each setting that had not been claimed. With the breakfast ending soon, I figured that there would be extras. Delighted with myself that I could remedy the situation, I leaned over to her and whispered “There are extra Kat Burki candles over at that table if you want to get one.” She smiled and said “Those are mine, I’m Kat Burki” to which I replied “So… I’m guessing you don’t need anymore?”
