Happy Friday! It’s been such a great week – the kind that summers are made for. Both Jackson and Catherine got a lot of quality time with their grandmother, something that’s very hard to do during the school year. Visits with grandma are a challenge when school is in session because the weekdays are a complete blur and weekends are filled with errands, house projects and sports. My mom took them on “crafting” expeditions to a bead store and a paint your own pottery studio. They both came home with treasures that they feel proud. The mom in me loves any opportunity to let them tap into their creative side!
Today, we’re headed to the beach with friends. I’m packing up a picnic lunch with great deli sandwiches, fruits and lots of cold water. We’ll be there when it starts low tide, which is ideal for playing and searching for hermit crabs. We fill a large bucket with seawater and a few inches of sand and then collect as many hermit crabs as we can. The kiddos love to watch them scurry around the bottom of the bucket before we release them. And yes, I’m always asked if we can take them home and have to give a firm “NO!” I don’t like to be crabby with my kids, but no means no.
Have a wonderful weekend xo
