Favorite Things

This week has felt a bit surreal. I hit the floor running on Tuesday morning and haven’t come up for air until now. I’ve had a long “to do list” that has been nagging at me for months. “The list” has been on my bedside table forever and everyday I would stare at that slip of paper and promise myself next week. As the days turned into weeks and then months, I hadn’t even made a dent in it. I was surprised at how much it bothered me. And then the situation got worse. I punished myself by adding even more things to the “to do list.” Thankfully, fear crept in to save the day. This was the last week that both my kiddos would be in school and I knew that I was living on borrowed time. It was fight or flight.
I won’t bore you with the details, suffice to say that our garage has been cleaned out, I’ve made several trips to the dump, got my car serviced, had a new car key made, picked up our beach sticker, signed my kids up for summer camps, re-organized the refrigerator, filed mountains of paperwork, had Our Plumber (that’s their real name) check a leaky pipe, returned some clothes, picked up end-of-year thank you gift cards for teachers and our bus driver, returned a rented band instrument, sent a birthday card, changed the battery in our garage door keypad, cleaned and bleached our ice coolers, went to book club, cheered on my son’s baseball team and attended Catherine’s Nursery School celebration. As I said, no need to provide you with the details. Have a wonderful weekend xo
