I didn’t see it coming. Earlier this week I was in a store and saw Halloween decorations. It was positively frightful (which is probably what they were going for considering it is the scariest day of the year). It means only one thing, summer is winding down and I’m not ready. Waaaaaaa! This is the last carefree weekend before the school year begins for us. It feels bittersweet. We’ve had some of the most glorious weather on record this summer which has made it especially wonderful to enjoy all that summer offers – lots of baseball, picnics at the beach and lazy afternoons at the pond in our neighborhood. The beginning of the school year marks a definite and swift transition. Our daily schedule will change significantly so we can get in the groove for the school day routine and we also start a new season of sports and other activities that consume afternoons and weekends. We’ll adhere more closely to bedtimes and have quieter evenings at home. I think that we are all ready to get back into a regular schedule, but I’ll miss the casualness of summer.
