Happy Friday! Today, I want to share a story about nine young basketball players and their coaches.
We live in a small town in Connecticut and unlike the other much larger towns that surround us, our population pales in comparison. For the most part, what this means for our town’s athletic teams is that whoever shows up and expresses an interest to play a sport such as soccer, baseball and basketball is on the team. There are a few exceptions depending on the school grade, sport and season – but generally there are not enough players to have “try outs.” Due to a combination of excellent coaching, lots of practice and outstanding effort by the players, our little team beat 21 other teams in the area to win the 6th Grade Boys Fairfield County Basketball Championship. What’s also remarkable about the victory is that this is the second year in a row that they have won. It exemplifies what hard work, passion and smart playing strategy can do. We are calling them “the little team that could.” Kerry was one of the assistant basketball coaches and I know he’s feeling happy about sharing this season’s success with our son, Jackson. Hoping that you have a great weekend xo
