CT in Style – A Connecticut-based lifestyle blog – Erica O’Brien cakes
It’s the first day of June and I am already daydreaming about all the glorious weddings that will take place this month. The brides-to-be have been in planning mode to ensure every detail is attended to, including the cake. You just need to find a baker that can perfectly capture your wedding cake inspiration and deliver a gorgeous and delicious cake. I discovered one such cake designer named Erica O’Brien. I came across her on Pinterest and was so inspired by her cakes that I did some research and discovered that she is right here in Connecticut. Needless to say, I had to meet her in person.
Erica O’Brien Cake Designs is located in a unique space that triples as her office, commercial kitchen and a retail shop that she shares with her sister, aka The Soup Girl. She gave me a tour of her kitchen so I could get a real appreciation of what takes place behind the scenes and then we hung out in her office to talk about cakes. When I asked her where she gets her creativity she said “I give myself permission to break the rules. I am willing to try different things and develop my own techniques.” I’ve decided she’s a cake maverick. In addition to designing wedding cakes she makes cakes for all happy occasions. Check out her website for much more information, especially The Design Process. Not only are you guaranteed a one of a kind cake, it will be yummy too. Erica makes all her cakes, cupcakes and cookies from scratch and uses real butter to elevate the taste. For more images check out my Pinterest Board on Erica.

Here is my blog’s logo cake that Erica was kind enough to design for me. I just love the metallic ombre design and the pops of color!
