Entryway Ideas and Inspiration

June 17, 2015

Feature Image 2Entryway Ideas – CT in Style, a Connecticut-based lifestyle blog.

We have a small entryway at the front entrance of our home. While most entryways have a coat closet, ours is too shallow for that. I’ve tried every which way to carve out a closet, but it’s not happening. Plan B is to install decorative hooks to hang the jackets and coats of friends that are visiting – but I can’t commit to that idea. I’m stuck in a decorating dilemma. I’ve been searching for ideas and inspiration for entryways because I want to make it a welcoming transition between the outdoor and indoor areas of our home. And even though the space is small, I want to give the entryway some importance. It is literally, the first impression that someone has of our home and I want it to reflect our personality. Here are some beautiful entryway images that I’ve been collecting. I’ve been analyzing them and narrowed it down to the handful of components needed to create a chic and welcoming entrance. Whether your taste runs towards the calm and serene or “go bold or go home” you need:

1) a console, chest or bench
2) a mirror/artwork/photo
3) a rug
4) a lamp/lantern
5) a tray/flowers

A console table is a smart idea for an entry because it doesn’t take up a lot of space.Entryway 3

One of my favorites, I love how light and airy this entrance is and how they took advantage of the high ceilings and brought the artwork up.Entryway 4

Mixing bold patterns works here because the palette is all neutral.Entryway 6
