It seems that wherever I go, I am seeing tassels on necklaces and bracelets. Since I have a respectable inventory of bead bracelets, I wanted to try making one of my own tassels to add to a bracelet. I was surprisingly easy and I wanted to share the step-by-step instructions in case you wanted to make some of your own too. I picked a bright neon pink for the summer and added it to a white bead bracelet that I made a few weeks ago. I can’t tell you how many compliments I have received on this bracelet now that the tassel has been added. If you want to make your own tassel, I would highly suggest getting thick thread. I’ve found that some cotton embroidery floss is too fine and each strand ends up getting wrinkled.
Step 1 – Wrap the thread around the cardboard
Step 2 – Slide the loop of thread off the cardboard and slide on the jump ring centering it in the middle of the thread.
Step 3 – Bend the thread in half so the jump ring is at the top (you are squeezing the thread together).
Step 4 – Wrap the thread around the top of the loop near the jump ring. I wrapped the thread around about 10 times and knotted it very tightly.
Step 5 – Cut the looped ends of the thread.
Step 6 – Open the jump ring and put the beading string through it.
