DIY Art Projects
After launching this blog (I can’t believe it has only been 3 months!) I’ve been spending a lot more time in our home office editing photos and writing posts. Our office is perfectly functional but lacked personality. In a previous post I shared my obsession with gold polka dots being used to glam up walls and I decided to order the dots and put them to good use over the weekend. I also wanted to add some art to the walls and was inspired by a piece of artwork I saw that was a large pink heart in a frame. My printer can’t print anything that large, so I got the idea that I could make my own heart using beautiful wrapping paper. It was surprisingly simple, and I ending up making three hearts in different paper. I will store them one behind the other in the frame, and I can easily change the artwork whenever I feel like it. I chose the wrapping paper based on a swatch of fabric that I am going to use to recover our office chair.
This is the fabric I will be using to recover our office chair (I will reveal the before and after photos in another post)
I used a square frame from IKEA, poster paper, a heart shape, wrapping paper and Elmer’s spray adhesive
I held the heart shape against the wrapping paper and carefully cut it out
Place the heart shape on the poster paper, using a pencil mark the bottom and top of the heart so you know exactly where to place it after you have sprayed the adhesive on
Place the heart on a scrap piece of paper (or newspaper) and spray the back of the heart
Using the pencil marks as a guide, center the heart on the poster paper and insert into frame
Here is the final product, I’m loving the mint green and gold
All three hearts (that I will store one behind the other in the frame and change out whenever I want)
