Delicious 4th of July Dessert
Hi friends! For many of us on the East Coast, the July 4th Holiday Weekend was rained out. Thankfully, we have glorious weather and the beach fireworks have been rescheduled for today, July 5th. Whatever your plans are, I hope that they involve family, friends, and lots of yummy food. If you are looking for a quick and easy fool proof delicious 4th of July dessert, I have one for you. Regardless of whether you are staying in, or going out, I have the quintessential summer dessert that will be gone faster than you can say “fireworks.”
We are spending the holiday with friends, and having what my midwestern husband calls a “pitch-in.” On the East Coast, we call it a “potluck” whereby everyone contributes something to the meal. Naturally, I wanted to bring something that both the adults and kiddos would love and because we are all meeting at the beach for dinner and to watch the fireworks, I also needed something that would transport well.
We’re bringing fried chicken, but I want to bring dessert too. S’Mores immediately came to mind, but roasting marshmallows can only be done in certain areas on the beach. Not willing to give up on the idea, I decided to make S’Mores Dip instead.
This dessert uses only three ingredients and it could not be any easier to make. You should bake it ahead of time and if you want to reheat it (I recommend doing that) place it in a microwave and heat at 10 second intervals until it is the temperature you want. If you are at the beach and have commandeered a grill, simply place the dish directly on the grill to warm the chocolate and marshmallows. Enjoy!
Delicious 4th of July Dessert
S’Mores Dip with Graham Cracker Cookies
One package of semi-sweet Ghiradelli Chocolate Chips
One package of marshmallows
One box of Graham Cracker Cookies
Directions:
Using an oven safe dish, pour the chocolate chips in it and level them. In a circular pattern, place the marshmallows on top of the chocolate chips and put in the oven for 15 minutes. Turn the broiler on high and watching VERY CLOSELY and under no circumstances are you to walk away because they brown in a flash (this is a reminder for you Celerina!). Toast the tops of the marshmallows to a golden brown color. Serve immediately with graham cracker cookies.
