Connecticut in style
For several years I was a Garden Hostess. It is the name they give you when you volunteer to oversee a garden for a fund-raiser called “Discovery in the Garden.” Local Connecticut residents purchase tickets and receive a map to 5-6 homes in Fairfield County, CT that have beautiful gardens. Proceeds go to The Discovery Museum to fund a new series of exhibits. One year I was lucky enough to get assigned a gorgeous property in Southport, CT. A gravel driveway led to iron gates that opened into a large level garden. It was a very secluded property (by design) and I remember being caught by surprise when I walked towards the back because it offered a vista of steps leading down to a private pool. So cool and unexpected! The elevated garden was designed by Twombly Nursery but the owners, who I had the pleasure of spending the day with, do most of the maintenance. Enjoy the virtual garden tour!
