Hi friends! The holiday season is just around the corner, and one of the best ways to spruce up your home and spread the festive cheer is by hanging a beautiful Christmas wreath on your front door. Sometimes it is hard to know where to start, there are so many options and different directions you can take. For the past twenty years, I have hosted a wreath making party either at my home, someone else’s home and I recently hosted one in my floral studio, Fresh Flower Bar. It goes without saying that this is one of my most treasured holiday traditions!
I started blogging about wreaths when I first launched my blog in 2015, how has it been 8 years? Here is a link to the first wreath blog post: Holiday Wreath Ideas
Christmas Wreath Ideas
When I first started making wreaths, they were traditional and dare I say, predictable. Over the years, I have made a conscious effort to experiment with different styles. I decided that I shouldn’t settle for the traditional holly and pinecone wreath when there are so many creative and unique designs to choose from. In this blog post, we’ll explore 10 inspiring Christmas wreath ideas that will make your home stand out and bring joy to all who see it. Once you are done reading this post, I’d encourage you to take a deep dive into my Pinterest Board that has 418 wreath images, each one more beautiful than the next.
Here are 10 Beautiful and Unique Christmas Wreath Ideas to Brighten Up Your Home!
1. Rustic Charm:
If you’re a fan of the cozy and natural look, consider a rustic-themed wreath. Use magnolia leaves, cinnamon sticks, pinecones, and dried oranges to create a warm and inviting wreath that perfectly captures the spirit of the season. TIP: Pops of blue juniper are a perfect complement to the orange (they are on opposite sides of the color wheel). I will be posting about how to make your own dried orange slices later this week!
2. Boho Pampas Grass:
As you know, Pampas Grass has made a huge splash in the past few years, and it is still a staple for people who love boho style. To make this, bind pampas grass (you can purchase them HERE), and smaller dried flowers such as bunny tail with a wire and then wire it to the wreath. This wreath was made using a wood bead wreath and a simple ribbon tied in a loose knot is all you need.
3. Preserved Flowers:
Lately I have noticed that many of my brides ask me if I can preserve their bridal bouquet, while I don’t do this personally, it is growing business and there are a few companies that I have partnered with. The key is to get the bouquet shipped asap so the flowers remain intact! You can embrace the preserved flower trend by incorporating dried flowers into your wreath design. Roses, wax flower, thistle, straw flower, and baby’s breath dry quite nicely. Amaranth, the burgundy flower that is shaped like a spike, dries beautifully and adds amazing color to this wreath.
4. Coastal Christmas:
If you’re dreaming of a beach vacation during the winter months, why not create a coastal-themed wreath? Incorporate seashells, starfish, and icy blue-grey hues to evoke a relaxing seaside atmosphere.
5. Festive Foliage:
For a modern and minimalist approach, opt for a wreath made entirely of foliage and feathers. Use eucalyptus, pine cones, copper colored ornaments and thistle for a simple yet sophisticated design that exudes natural beauty.
6. Candy Cane Bliss:
Capture the sweetness of the season with a candy cane-themed wreath. Wrap a plain wreath form with red and white striped ribbon, and adorn it with oversized candy canes and peppermint candy ornaments for a playful and joyful touch.
7. Vintage Elegance:
If you love all things vintage, a wreath inspired by bygone eras is perfect for you. Incorporate antique ornaments, lace, and vintage-inspired trinkets to create a wreath that exudes timeless elegance.
8. Whimsical Woodland:
Fans of the forest will adore this enchanting wreath made from foraged items. Use softly colored ornaments, moss, dried flowers and quirky elements to create a wreath that radiates whimsy and imagination.
9. Euro Elegance:
Embrace the design aesthetic with a wreath made of several varieties of greenery, frosted pinecones, stars, small round ornaments, bottle brush trees and miniature houses. This rich, textural design will bring a touch of European flair to your home.
10. Luxe Wreath:
Saving the best for last! Make your Christmas wreath truly unique with a luxury wreath. These wreaths are packed with ornaments and make a statement. The great things about ornament wreaths like these is that you can select any color combination you want to match your home decor.
This holiday season, let your creativity shine by choosing a Christmas wreath that reflects your personal style and brings joy to your home. Whether you prefer a rustic charm, a whimsical design, or a minimalist approach, there are endless possibilities to explore. So, go ahead and get crafty – your front door will thank you, and your guests will be delighted by the festive welcome they receive!
