| a few pieces from Catherine’s Capsule Wardrobe |
Have you heard of the term Capsule Wardrobe? It’s a term coined by Susie Faux, the owner of a London boutique called “Wardrobe” in the 1970s. A capsule wardrobe is a collection of a few essential items of clothing that don’t go out of fashion, such as classic t-shirts, jeans, skirts, dresses, shoes and coats, which can then be augmented with seasonal pieces. I put together a sample of Catherine’s Capsule Wardrobe composed of new back to school clothes from Gymboree. One of my strategies was to purchase clothes that are in the same color palette so I can easily mix and match all the items. Catherine’s favorite color is lavender, so we started there and added other complementary colors such as navy blue, pink, white and cream. For some glam, we added a pair of gold sequin shoes!
Gymboree was having a massive sale, and we left with over 3o items of clothing that I will give us 100+ different looks. I’m having so much fun combining pieces to create Catherine’s Lookbook, I’ve included a few shots of my pumpkin pie in some of our favorite combinations.
