Cheek Contouring
It’s Makeup Monday! A reader emailed me with a request to add more beauty and cosmetic tips on my blog. I decided to start with the cheek contouring technique because it is by far the quickest and easiest part of my beauty routine. It makes my cheekbones look high and slims my face at the same time. The best part about this technique is the short supply list: all you need is a contour stick and a soft makeup brush.
In the past, I used powder for contouring but it made my skin look flat. So when Clinique came out with this new product, the Clinique Chubby Stick Sculpting Contour I was anxious to try it. It only comes in one shade, but it is great for all skin tones. I much prefer the creamy stick over a powder because it is hydrating and gives a dewy look. There are other contouring products on the market but I’ve had a long standing relationship with Clinique and I couldn’t be happier with this brand. They are very innovative with their skincare and makeup and regularly release new products that I end up loving.
Let’s get to the step-by-step cheek contouring technique!
Gotta love this short supply list of Clinique Sculpting Contour Chubby Stick and a soft makeup brush!
Cheek Contouring
Step 1: If you wear blush, apply it first to the apple of your cheeks. It is important to apply the contour stick to the hollow of your cheek, directly below your natural cheekbone. The easiest way to find the hollow is to pucker up! Suck in your cheeks and you will immediately see where you should apply the contouring makeup. You can see from the photo above that even before applying any makeup, it looks like my cheeks are already contoured. This is the slimming effect the makeup will give you without sucking in your cheeks.
Step 2: Start at the halfway point between your mouth and ear. It is important that you do not apply the contour too close to your mouth. Farther back towards your ear is better.
Step 3: Apply the contour makeup all the way to your hairline. The Clinique stick glides on leaving a smooth straight line.
Step 4: Using a soft makeup brush, brush the contouring makeup in upward strokes until it is fully blended.
Ta-da!
