Bodega Taco Bars are one of my all-time favorite chains in Fairfield County, CT. They are an authentic Farm-to-Table Mexican restaurant and have two locations, Darien and Fairfield. I’ve eaten at both and they are muy bueno. The first thing that sets Bodega apart from other restaurants is the festive atmosphere that you feel the moment you walk in because the place is always crowded. They don’t take reservations, but will do a “30-minute call ahead” which I like because it reserves you a spot on the waiting list but you don’t have to be there in person. When my girlfriends and I arrive and a table isn’t ready, the hostess always steers us to the bar for a margarita while you are waiting – it’s just part of the experience and the people watching lends to the fun.
The second thing that makes Bodega special is how bracingly fresh the food and drinks are. Everything is made from scratch from the guacamole and chips to the cocktails that they muddle lemons and limes for. They boast 80+ types of Tequilas in the Tequila Bar and when you ask your server for a recommendation and you’ll get questions like “How do you like the finish? Soft or Angry?” It is hard to narrow down my favorites, everything is delicious and unlike other restaurants where I tend to order the same meal, I make it a point to order something new at Bodega. You can always get a sampler of several tacos which is a great way to have a small bite of everything. Dessert is a religious experience, ask everyone at your table to order one and have lots of spoons so you can share. The Pot de Crème, is a heavenly Mexican chocolate dessert – so I know you understand why I do order that every time. Bodega offers take out which is great for a date night at home and they have a Taco Truck that will come to you for events and parties.
xo.
