One of the most fun and creative parts of my month is deciding how to photo style my Birchbox Subscription Review post. I never know what the box will look like on the outside and I typically open it and live with it for a couple of days to give myself some time to figure out what I want to do. This month’s box is a delicious apricot color with gold constellation-like beauty product images. The decision on how to style it was made for me when I found a rose in the exact same color. I used a vintage flower vase with gold-rimmed handles that reminds me of a Greek vessel – and I love how it tied this mythological box together.
The contents are equally out of this world. Now that spring is here, I’m spending more time on my beauty routine and love testing out new products. After the dry winter weather, I’m gravitating towards anything that will help restore my hair and skin. Among other goodies, this box continues hair serum and an exfoliating mask which is perfect to get a jump-start on looking your best. Below are the Birchbox Reviews for February 2016!
I attribute my island girl roots for the reason I love the scent of this coconut and mango shower gel. In the ever-expanding world of beauty products, soap can sometimes get the short shrift—until you happen upon a collection like this one. Sure, it’ll get you clean, but these aromatherapeutic formulas also aim to address the most pressing of your first-world problems—with a snarky sense of humor and seriously delicious scent. Each scent takes aim at a specific frustration, from dieting to work to relationships.
Hair need a little rescuing? This super fruit-fueled serum is here to swoop in and save the day. Antioxidant-rich sea buckthorn berry, the anchor of this lightweight serum, helps to treat and repair dry, damaged hair. Strands are left smooth and shiny without a heavy, greasy feel. Rub a few drops between your hands, and gently massage into the hair and scalp. Use on wet hair before styling or on dry hair as a finishing touch.
When our skin is feeling meh (read: dull), we turn to this exfoliating honey mask from Hey Honey. It brightens dull skin and promotes a smooth, clear complexion with alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) that scrub away dead skin, reduce wrinkles, and improve the overall look and feel of skin.
Our trick for a fresh, polished, no-one-can-tell-we’re-wearing-makeup glow…on days when we barely have a millisecond to comb our hair? This gorgeous cheek tint from Birchbox brand ARROW. The breathable, oil-free gel formula allows it to seamlessly sink into skin—without clogging pores or streaking—for a natural-looking flush of color that lasts through every part of your day (from an intense spin class to an equally intense presentation at work). The easy-to-use, pen-style packaging nixes the need for brushes or sponges, and a gentle cooling sensation makes application refreshing, especially pre- or post-workout. Bonus: Every product in the ARROW line is vegan, paraben-free, cruelty-free, and gluten-free.
The box
The goods! “Color outside the lines” is great as a life philosophy. As an approach to lip color? Not so much. Keep your lipstick from wandering with this nourishing soft wax pencil. The neutral shade works with every lip color in your collection while making your lips look fuller and more defined. Bonus: It comes with a built-in sharpener.
