I have a very good problem. I have more ideas to share with you than days allow. Therefore, my monthly Birchbox Subscription Review for December had to take a back seat to all the holiday-related content (no disrespect to the makeup Goddesses). Opening up my monthly Birchbox has become a little ritual. I like to be sitting somewhere comfy with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine in hand – depending of course on what time of day it is. I really enjoy testing the samples to see which ones work for me, and I always hope that they all do! The December “Holiday-theme” box whispered snowflakes and snow – which perfectly matches the bitterly cold weather here in Connecticut.
Let’s take a look inside.
This month’s box included ORIBE Dry Texturizing Spray, PARLOR Curl Cream, eyeko FAT liquid eyeliner and inside the silver box was MSC lavender and bergamot body nectar and Coastal Scents eyeshadow sampler.
{Oribe Dry Texturizing Shampoo}
The lowdown: Part dry shampoo, part texturizer, its unique formula soaks up oils in grimy hair, and gives your flattened, blown-out coif an instant dose of altitude. Waking up late never felt so serene. Patented polymers absorb oil to give hair a rough-and-tumble texture, while adding a bit of hold to keep things in place—all without the powdery residue that some dry shampoos leave behind.
The lowdown: Add some definition and control to your hair with this amazing curl cream. It will help maintain and create soft curls that look au natural. This innovative formula from PARLOR® by Jeff Chastain combines the silky texture of a serum with the light hold of a cream so it won’t weigh down your locks.
{MSC Lavender & Bergamot Body Nectar}
The lowdown: If there’s one thing our entire body needs, it’s hydration. From dry elbows to frizzy hair, this multitasking moisturizer has you covered (literally). Made from all-natural, vegan oils, including apricot kernel oil, sunflower oil and coconut oil, this all-in-one hero can quench the thirst of dry hair and dry skin. Plus, the light lavender and bergamot scent radiates relaxation.
{Coastal Scents formal Eyes, eye shadow sampler}
Low down: The formal EYES palette offers lovely nudes and rosy pinks for a big night out. Apply the lighter color to the lid and below the eyebrow, and use the shimmering rose color at the edge of your eye and blend into the crease for a dramatic look.
The lowdown:This easy-to-use liner lets you get a steady grip for even application. It delivers the same smudge-proof, budge-proof, rich color we adore—now in a thicker, bolder-than-ever line. Enriched with nourishing algae extract, this liner glides on smoothly for a high-impact look. If you are new to applying eyeliner, click here to watch a video for beginners.
Getting eyeliner on perfectly takes some practice. I’ve tried everything to make the job easier and the right tools for the job depending on what kind of “eye” you are going for. For smokey eyes you have to use a pencil and then blend it. For cat eyes, I prefer a gel liner. The liquid eyeliner that came in this month’s Birchbox was a combo of the two. It glided on really well and gave me the preciseness I was looking for but with the softness of a slightly blended in look.
