Now that summer is here, we’re spending most of our time outside. And, it seems that no matter how hard I try (hats, beach umbrellas, etc.) I can’t avoid getting sun exposure. I use a high SPF sunscreen daily, but I can already see that I’m developing a slight tan. Because sun exposure is the leading cause of skin cancer and unwanted wrinkles, I do worry about the impact on my skin. On the flipside, I also know that 10-15 minutes of soaking up the sun (with sunscreen on) provides natural vitamin D which has many health benefits.
Even though my daily Clinique moisturizer does an amazing job at keeping my skin supple, I’ve found that a hydrating facial mask is a great addition to my skincare routine. I think I must’ve first become aware of hydrating facial masks when I was stalking the best movie star’s Academy Awards Instagram pics for a blog post. I came across one of Julia Louis-Dreyfus that was hilarious, and a more recent one of Drew Barrymore is below.
This whole sheet mask trend piqued my interest and I went in search of the best hydrating facial sheet masks. I came across a collection from SpaLife that really appealed to me. Depending on your skin (dry, dull) you can choose Cherry, Fresh Lime, Orange, Strawberry, Grapefruit, Coconut or Avocado. Each type of mask address a specific skin concern. I’m also a total sucker for brilliant packaging and I love that these sheet masks come in many different varieties that remind me of the tropics!
I picked up one in every “flavor” and treated myself to a mini in-home spa and loved the results. It only takes 15-20 minutes to hydrate your face and immediately after, you can apply your daily moisturizer and makeup. I can totally see myself using these sheet masks as I am watching reruns of the Gilmore Girls night after the kiddos are in bed.
The Best Hydrating Facial Sheet Masks
Directions: Open package and simply pat mask on face, leave for 20 minutes. Gently remove the mask and lightly massage any remaining serum into your skin. Do not rinse. Discard the mask after single use. My tip: it is helpful to lie down when wearing these masks so they can lay flat against your face. If you are interested in trying them out, they are $7.99 each. I’ve included links to purchase via Amazon.
