Best Beauty Products of 2019
Hi guys! First of all, Happy New Year! I’m not sure about you, but my 2019 was filled with a lot of highs and lows. As we begin a new year and a new decade, I am praying for more stability. If there is one thing that I have learned in the past year, it is the importance of reliability. Because when things get cray cray, having people and things in your life that you can count on becomes absolutely crucial.
Whether it is a friend that can pick up your Mom in hospital (after a health scare that turned out to be minor), a car that starts every time, or a simple beauty product that always delivers a polished look, reliability is the name of the game. Speaking of which, today I want to share the best beauty products of 2019. These are my “go-to” cosmetics that have stood the test of time and which I rely on every day.
Best Beauty Products of 2019
I am breaking this down into categories, starting at the very top – you guessed it – with hair products.
Hair
Shampoo and Conditioner: I like the Pureology brand of shampoos and conditioners, and I use Strength Cure lineup. If you have dry, frizzy or colored hair be sure your shampoo is sulfate free! Available at Ulta Beauty, Walgreens, Walmart, Amazon, etc.
Hair Gloss: It’s a 10, Silk Express Leave in Conditioner is my first choice, I also use John Frieda Frizz Ease.
Moisturizer
For the Face: Clinique Moisture Surge Intense (especially important in the winter months).
For the Lips: I use Blistex Soft and Lush Lip Balm with SPF 15, it is nothing fancy, just works. Available at most Big Box and Drug Store chains.
Cosmetics
I typically do not wear a lot of heavy makeup. My daily makeup routine consists of applying moisturizer and lip balm, a light application of primer followed by a light coat of foundation, concealer (under eyes and on blemishes), contouring powder (to accentuate my cheek bones and narrow my nose), eyebrow pencil, matte eyeshadow (that serves double duty as a contouring powder), black mascara, and a light colored, shimmery lipgloss.
Primer: Prime Time by Bare Minerals Foundation Primer
Concealer: Naturally Radiant Concealer by Two Faced. I apply this prior to my foundation.
Foundation: Complexion Rescue by Bare Minerals, see my full blog post about it HERE
Contouring Powder: I still have my Bare Minerals color palette, but it is no longer available. So I have linked this contouring palette by Anastasia Beverly Hills which will be what I purchase next. I use this to add definition to my cheek bones, at my hair line to shorten my forehead, along my jaw line, and along the sides of on my nose. If you want to learn how to contour your face like a pro it is part of my Makeup Tricks and Tips, you can read it HERE.
Eyebrow Pencil: Ultra-Fine or Mirco-Fine Brow Pencil by Covergirl.
Matte Eyeshadow: FIT me! Matte Poreless Powder in Classic Ivory by Maybelline. I apply with a small brush and use this on my eye lids, and immediately below my eye brows (after I have applied eyebrow pencil) and down the center of my nose.
Mascara: the Colossal Volume Express by Maybelline available everywhere.
Lipgloss: Silk Shimmer Luxe Gloss by Stila is in my cosmetics bag now, but with about 100 colors to chose from, my next purchase will be BUXOM Full-On Plumping Lip Polish.
Finishing Powder: – Bare Minerals Matte Foundation is actually a loose powder. I use it after I have applied all my makeup to soften everything and remove any shine.
I hope that you have a happy and healthy 2020!
xo, Sarah
