A couple years ago, I took a photo of this sign at Whole Foods. WooHoo! It was such a cause for celebration to be able to buy beer on a Sunday, that I actually paused for a split second to snap a photo. At long last, the state of Connecticut allowed beer to be sold on Sunday. Clearly, I am a beer lover. With certain foods, icy cold beer is quite possibly the most delicious thing to drink on the planet. I love that it is crisp and refreshing and it pairs well with so many different types of cuisine. I especially like how the coldness feels against hot and spicy food from Buffalo Wings to Thai. I’ve tried dark beer, but prefer pale ale and stuck with the same 2 or 3 brands. Beer is not something that I have been adventurous with, I either love it or hate it – there is no in between for me. One day a friend introduced me to Palm, a Belgian beer. We drank it with gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches and I was hooked. Belgium has a long history of cheese-making and I thought it was really smart to pair this beer with a grilled cheese sandwich. I realized that I wanted the freedom of sampling other brands but I didn’t want to buy an entire 6-pack of beer in case I didn’t like it. Then one day while shopping in Whole Foods, I noticed that you build your own custom 6-pack. This is perfect for me because I can try a lot of different beers without being left with the remainder of a 6-pack that I will never drink. Whole Food’s selection of beer is vast and impressive, they have beer from around the world and local breweries and offer a wide selection of speciality beers, including gluten-free.
Cheers!
