CT in Style, a Connecticut-based lifestyle blog – Creating a Welcoming Guest Bedroom
The official start of summer is only a few weeks away and with the kiddos out of school, this is the ideal time to host family and friends for a visit. As a child, I eagerly awaited visits to my grandparents, Gigi and Coco, who lived in Florida. My siblings and I would arrive to a wonderfully cooled home and head straight to “our” bedrooms. My sister and I shared a very girly guest bedroom that was immaculately clean, so much so, that when you walked in you could see the marks left on the freshly vacuumed carpet. The bedroom had twins beds with matching floral bed sets, pillow covers and frilly bed skirts all in 100% polyester from JCPenney – and we loved it. On the white wicker bedside table, she would leave out a bowl of Hershey Kisses or those pastel colored mints that melt in your mouth (still a favorite of mine). In a sense, my grandmother was the first person that I stayed with away from home and she set the standard for how to create a welcoming guest room. If you are planning on entertaining guests this summer, here is a checklist that I think Gigi would approve of.
