{the outlier}
I came down with the balloons. It took awhile for me to snap back to reality after Catherine’s 4th Birthday Party last Saturday. I was walking through our home a couple of days later collecting pink and purple balloons that had slowly drifted to the ground. There was one outlier. It floated in mid air in our stairwell, suspended and barely moving. It would be a matter of time before it fell but I didn’t have the heart to pop it and put it in the trash with the rest of them. I didn’t want the party to be over, and this one balloon keep it going.
If you follow Connecticut in Style, you know that I don’t do many posts about my kiddos. But, I wanted to share a few of the photos from her birthday party on today’s post starting with the fact that Catherine’s favorite color is purple. Luckily, it happens to be the same color of the gown that Sophia the First, her favorite princess wears. Phew! Needless to say, the balloons, cake and decorations were all in purple and pink – an ideal backdrop for a Princess Party for Catherine and eight guests princesses.
This pretty cake with the rosettes is from Alina’s Patisserie. Please note that the letters of her name is spelled out in fondant. I wasn’t expecting this and it was a lovely surprise!
Next week I will include a short video on the rosette technique used to decorate this cake.
The look on her face. Priceless.
It was a shadow cake with alternating vanilla and chocolate cake and buttercream icing. Delicious.
It was a fairy tale ending.
