4th of July Outfit
I spent the better part of the first 10 years of my life in Jamaica, and the most my family did to celebrate the 4th of July was to watch the U.S. fireworks on TV and light sparklers in the driveway. We moved back to America in the month of June and it was just in time to celebrate our first real 4th of July. My Mom is English, but because she has three American children she felt it was important for us to embrace all the U.S. holidays. As a matter of fact, she made it a point to totally indulge us and went hog wild for every holiday. I think it was her way of making up for lost experiences. Last October, I dedicated an entire week to Halloween-themed ideas and it was so much fun keeping to a single theme, that I decided to blog this week about 4th of July. I’m starting with inspo for an outfit, definitely red, white and blue! It’s casual and comfortable and shows my spirit for the holiday.
Despite the fact that I’ve been told that red is my color, I rarely wear it. I’m really trying to incorporate more red into my wardrobe and figured that the July 4th holiday would be as good a time as any! I started with a lightweight, red cotton sweater from The Gap and paired it with seersucker shorts with a cute embroidered boat and All-Star Converse sneakers. A monogrammed bag from Lands’ End holds all the essentials, and it is an added style bonus that the canvas bag match the canvas sneakers. I love it when a plan comes together.
