Pretty Preppy Transitional Outfit

Pretty Preppy Transitional Outfitsarah-obrien-ct-in-style

The weather here in Connecticut has definitely turned the corner and it’s time to bring on the layers! I was looking for some chic transitional outfits and when I found a lightweight, form-fitting navy blue quilted vest at Old Navy for under $35.00, I knew how I wanted to style it. I love the details of the exposed gold zipper, front pockets and the short collar that stands up. Pink and navy blue is one of my favorite color combinations and I have been looking for a way to incorporate a pink long sleeve t-shirt that I haven’t worn. I bought the t-shirt at Uniqlo and it’s a little too bright to wear on its own. Layering a vest over it tones the pink down but still delivers a pop of color. As a bonus, the Uniqlo t-shirt is made from their silky dry fabric, so it has thermal qualities and will be ideal under the vest to keep me warm.

While I was in Old Navy, I also picked up a new pair of jeans with a boot cut flare. When the temperature starts to drop, I pack away my faded jeans in favor of dark-washed jeans. I added some pearl accessories for a classic New England preppy look and remembered that I had a blanket scarf that pulled together all the colors (don’t you love when that happens?). A swipe of my Clinique Chubby Stick in Curvy Candy was the final touch.

Below are a couple different ways to wear this scarf. Fold it into a triangle (top right) and tie it around your neck like a bandana, or fold it into fourths and tie it once around your neck (bottom right).
